Together, the Charlotte Touchdown Club and Michael A. Kahn Family Foundation proudly present the Michael A. Kahn Community Service/Scholarship Award each year. This prestigious award is presented to the High School senior scholar athlete who best exemplifies the spirit of community stewardship, academic excellence and accomplishment on the football field.

The recipient of this award will have demonstrated a commitment to the classroom, community and athletics and will receive a $40,000 scholarship provided in $10,000 annual grants upon their continuation of community service and academic achievement in college.

To continue receiving the funds, the student must maintain full-time student statusby completing at least 12 credit hours each semester, maintain a 2.75 GPA and participate in at least two separate community service projects while contributing a total of 24 hours of service to the community.

Michael A. Kahn, owner/CEO of the Charlotte Checkers AHL hockey team and co-owner of the Carolina Hurricanes NHL hockey team, has demonstrated community service and leadership for years. Under Mr. Kahn’s ownership, the Checkers have given more than $2.3 million to the Charlotte community since 2006. The Michael A. Kahn Family Foundation continues to recognize citizens who give back to the community with their time, talents and efforts.
